🚨 BIG UPDATE: Every SMS in India now comes with a TAG! 🚨
Thanks to TRAI’s new rule, all SMS headers now end with a suffix showing the type of message you’re getting. No more guessing!
Here’s what those new suffixes mean:
- **“-P” → Promotional** (Offers, sales)
- **“-S” → Service** (Balance updates, confirmations)
- **“-T” → Transactional** (OTPs, payment alerts)
- **“-G” → Government** (Official notices)
For example:
- VK-FKRT-**P** → Promotional (Sale alert)
- JM-BOBTXN-**S** → Service (Balance update)
- JD-ZOMATO-**T** → Transactional (OTP)
**Why this change?**
To make SMSes safer by preventing fraud, reducing spam, and making messages easier to identify at a glance. The suffix is auto-assigned based on how the sender registers the message.
*Pro Tip:* The prefix still tells you about the operator and region (e.g., JD- = Jio Delhi).
